Cruising the Caribbean…
I hadn’t been on a cruise in a while and March seemed like a great time to go. The kids had different weeks off for Spring Break this year, so we thought, it wouldn’t be fair to take some of them and not the others – let’s just go alone! (Don’t feel TOO bad for them, they’re going to Hawaii with us in a few months ) We ended up deciding on the Norwegian Dawn and their Southern Caribbean route leaving from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The cruise we took had the following itinerary: Day Port of Call Arrival Departure 1 San Juan, Puerto Rico — 9:00 p.m.…
Ummm… What country is Prague in?
My girlfriend Debbie and I recently took a trip to Prague – and had an amazing time in this wonderful little city. Prior to this trip, Prague was not even on our radar. I was sitting there minding my own business one day, when Travelzoo sent me an email with their Top 20 deals for the week. I will not admit how often this happens and I end up dreaming about all the places I could go if I had the time and the money – when I noticed the number one deal was a 5-night trip to Prague for $699 – with air included! I must admit, I knew…
Seat Guru
Have you ever gotten on a long-haul flight only to find there is no power outlet? Have you ever gotten to your “window” seat, but it didn’t actually have a window? When booking a plane ticket there are many factors that can affect your experience, and seat choice is one of them. I never really bothered looking at seat amenities when I was flying domestic, I mean for a couple of hours I can just take a nap and I’m happy. When the Boeing Max debacle occurred and planes were being swapped out, we were booked on a trip to Hawaii, and found that the longest flight which was over…
A proper British trip!
I am a self-proclaimed Anglophile and love everything British, the accents, the architecture, the history everything but the Fish and Chips lol! I knew that when I finally got to visit, I would absolutely love it – and London did not disappoint. It reminds me of New York (which I love), but with less trash and prettier buildings. It also has the West End and we all know how much I love musicals American Airlines had just posted a new credit card offer where you applied for the card, and if you made one purchase on the card, you received 60,000 airline miles. That’s it … ONE purchase. I literally…
My Pretty Little Galway Girl
We told each of the kids that when they graduated high school, we would take them on a trip anywhere in the world. My oldest Kaleigh wanted to go to Ireland and learn more about her roots on the Hanley side of the family, so we were more than happy to oblige. The three of us (Kaleigh, my girlfriend Debbie and I) set off with my best friend Liz in tow. Luckily, we had enough United miles for three plane tickets so that helped bring the cost down significantly. At the time we were miles newbies and weren’t aware of the United excursionist perk – had we known then what…
Start spreading the news…… my favorite Broadway Musicals!
Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely love theater. Broadway, The West End, touring shows you name it, I’ll go. I am especially partial to musicals, so if you think they have a biased advantage in this post – I’ll just ‘fess up now and admit you are absolutely right! If I have to chose between a musical and a straight play, I’ll choose the musical every time. I get calls and messages from friends all the time asking what they should see or where they should buy tickets, so I thought it might be easier if I just wrote an article about it. Let’s start with the basics…
Our Bucket List Trip out West….
After taking a trip to Italy in 2014, I got really excited about travel and started saving airline miles to take my three kids on a trip. I wasn’t ready to take them overseas yet and being from Florida I thought it would be really cool to take them out West. I asked them each to make a bucket list, of items big and small that they wanted to do while we were there, and I’d do my best to make as many as I could happen. Their requests ranged from things as big as whitewater rafting, to as small as having an In-N-Out burger. Once I had their lists,…
